Darrell Mercer was raised in a small rural community in central Kentucky; where he came to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in 1981. With nearly 20 years in ministry experience, Darrell brings a unique perspective to the student ministry at FFC. Darrell began attending FFC in July of 2008 and it was at this time that he met his wife, Shannon Roby Mercer. Darrell was raised in a small community it was pretty easy to run with the wrong crowd as a teenager. Thankfully, God delivered Darrell from drugs and alcohol at 16 years of age and placed him on a path to follow Christ.
Shannon has a special heart for seeing young people discover their place in life and help them rmeet their goals. After a humble beginning and more than her share of hardships, God has made it possible for her and Darrell to write their own "broken road" love story. They were married June 20, 2009. Between them they have three children two daughters, Natisha (26), Sarah (23), and a son, Shane (21).
